2K Games has released a new developer diary video, this time showcasing Mafia 3's city New Bordeaux. The game's city is made up out of 9 unique districts with each having different criminal ecology. The districts include The Hollow, the poor part of the city, and the French Quarter, which is home to many neon signs, jazz bars and is the center of nightlife. The fictional city is based on New Orleans.
"New Bordeaux is our New Orleans but we took all of the best parts and we put it in one place. [..] You can go to the wharf district or you can go to the docking district, thats where all the shipment happens, where all the trade happens." said Matthias Worch, design director for Mafia 3.
"The way in which we can unlock the city story-wise it is always going to be fully available. [..] But the specific story beats that are going to take place in the city are actually very much tied to your quest. As you are making your progress you are going to unlock new parts of the city." Worch added.
Mafia 3 is scheduled to launch October 7th for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
