Sony has announced that it will be bringing a slimmer version of the PlayStation 4 console to most markets next week.
The slimmer version of the PlayStation 4 will be available starting September 15th 2016 and will get a $299 or €299 price tag. The console will also be receiving a firmware update, which according to Sony, will enable support for HDR displays.
The slimmer PlayStation 4 console was announced during Sony's PlayStation Meeting 2016 earlier today.
During the presentation Sony demoed the console's HDR capabilities by showing two photos that are in no way related to HDR displays but instead depict the effects of the use of HDR photo technology has. The technology has been used by photographers for years.
The new PlayStation 4 Pro console was also announced during the presentation. PlayStation 4 Pro will feature an updated GPU, boosted processor clock rates and a larger harddisk.
PlayStation 4 games will work on both versions of the console but game developers will only be able to make use of the updated console hardware when players play their games on PlayStation 4 Pro.
