Bluehole's PUBG Corp. has announced that the console versions of its battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be getting cross-platform multiplayer. The feature will connect Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players.

According to a recent announcement, the cross-platform multiplayer update is scheduled to release in September to test servers.

When the feature is thoroughly tested it is scheduled to release in October for all console players. However, an exact release date was not provided.

In PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds 100 players battle against each other on several large open world environments to become the last man standing.

When players start the game they parachute down from an airplane to a location of their choosing to gather equipment and weapons. Because of the high number of players per server enemies are never far away.

As the game continues players are forced to move to a specific area of the large open world environment to avoid being killed by the game. The end game is an intense firefight where the last remaining players go head to head.
