PUBG Corp. has released a beta version of PUBG Lite in Thailand. The game will be a free-to-play title that is targeting low-end machines.
According to a recent announcement, the Lite version of the game focuses on "balancing lower hardware requirements, without compromising on quality standards."
The Lite version seems to be using assets and textures from the mobile versions of the game that were released for Android and iOS last year.
How the Lite version will fit in the existing ecosystem and marketing is still unknown. On the PC, the studio is still selling the standard game and its Season Pass downloadable content on Steam.
A significant part of the community fears that the Lite version will open the door for cheaters, but it is still unknown whether PUBG Lite players can play with or against PUBG players.
PUBG Lite currently only gives players access to the original map Erangel.
