The Grand Theft Auto modding team OpenIV has released the first screenshots of its modification that brings the Liberty City map to Grand Theft Auto 5.

The new screenshots show what the Liberty City map looks like in the Grand Theft Auto 5 engine, better lighting, better shadows and better reflections.

The map modification was announced earlier this month when the modding team released the first teaser trailer for the mod.

With the OpenIV tool modders are able to open encrypted archives that contain models, textures and sounds that are used in Grand Theft Auto games by reading the encryption key stored in the game's executable.

Because the models used in the modification are protected by copyright, players will be required to own a copies of both Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V to be able to successfully install it.

Once the modification is available, players will be able to explore both Liberty City and Los Santos in the same game, as the modification only adds content to the existing map instead of replacing it.

A release date for the map modification has not yet been announced.
