Indie development studio Bulkhead Interactive has announced it is working on a new modern warfare fast-paced tactical shooter game titled Promod. The name of the game is identical to the popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare mod Promod.

According to a recent announcement, the new game will feature fast-paced tactical 5v5 player gameplay set in a modern era. The previous FPS game the studio worked on, Battalion 1944, featured a WW2 setting but ultimately failed to meet the desires and expectations of its community.

Promod is said to cater to those who preferred the fluid movement and unparalleled precision that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and its Promod modification were praised for. In a recent development vlog early concept footage shows the focus on this.

The development studio has released several statements on social media last week, where it discusses some of the issues it faced with Battalion 1944, noting that "Battalion 1944 was not intended to bring back COD4 Promod to the new generation, but to bring together mechanics from different old-school FPS titles in a fun arena-shooter," and that it "could have had a very different outcome had we had the funding and time necessary to appropriately prepare the game for launch and build in the retention mechanics required to keep players invested."

Promod testing builds will release in early 2021 to collect player feedback.
