Bethesda has confirmed that the first closed beta test for the arena hero shooter Quake Champions will be taking place next week.
The initial closed beta test will only be accessible to a small number of people. More players will be invited to participate as the beta phase progresses. During the closed beta test players will get access to the first hero and the map Blood Covenant.
Bethesda did not comment on the end date of the first closed beta test but did confirm that it will start on April 6th 2017. Along with the closed beta test announcement the game development studio has also released a new trailer for the map Burial Chamber.
The game is currently in development for PC and is expected to be released later this year. A console version has not been announced but is likely to follow after the game's launch on the PC.
Quake Champions will be a freemium shooter game because hero characters are locked behind a paywall in the free version. Each hero character features unique abilities that can give players the edge over other players.
Once the game releases, both free players and paid players will have access to the same maps and compete in the same brackets, with the difference being that winning matches will most definitely be easier when playing with paid Champions.
Those who are interested in signing up for the closed beta test are still able to do so via the game's beta sign up webpage.
