Bethesda has turned its latest competitive shooter game Quake Champions into a free-to-play title. Those who already purchased the game will not be getting a refund.

It isn't the first time that the game has been available for free. Back in June the publisher launched a trial week and gave away the game for free to those who tried it.

Despite the game now being free, hero characters are still locked behind a paywall. Each hero character features unique abilities that can give players the edge over other players.

The game received mixed reviews since its Early Access release because of frame rate issues, server latency issues and weapon and hero balancing issues.
