Indie development studio New World Interactive has released a new Insurgency: Sandstorm video that focuses on soundstaging. The game's first beta test starts later today.
In the video viewers get a sense of the depth of the game's sound system that can be used to locate enemies in 3D space. The system affects almost all combat and movement sounds, including weapons firing, footsteps, and character voices.
For this game, the studio has moved away from Valve's Source engine and is now building the game on Epic's Unreal Engine 3 to power its improved visuals.
The new game brings extended gameplay possibilities, improved immersion, new co-op and competitive objective-based game modes, all with the lethal tactical action that made Insurgency popular.
Insurgency: Sandstorm will release in September 2018 for PC and in 2019 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
