Insurgency: Sandstorm sells 500,000 copies in first three months

Indie development studio New World Interactive has announced it has sold more than 500,000 copies of its shooter game Insurgency: Sandstorm since its release in December.

According to a recent announcement, the game has been sold more than 500,000 times since its release on December 12, 2018. The game currently has mixed user reviews on Steam.

The studio states it is "already making back the budget of development, marketing, and then some". It is planning to support the game with free content updates.

Earlier this month, the company announced it will open a second studio in Calgary, Canada, to support the game and provide crucial development support for an unannounced future title.

The second studio is named New World North and is scheduled to open on May 15, 2019, and is already hiring in all disciplines.

In our review we gave Insurgency: Sandstorm a 7 out of 10, noting that its game performance is hit or miss. The game is expected to release for consoles later this year.
