Battle royale game Ring of Elysium will get improved graphics with its DirectX 12 build, Tencent Games announced. A test build releases later this month.
According to a recent announcement, the implementation of DirectX 12 support will bring more efficient usage of CPU resources, resulting in a "significant increase" in the frame rates and improved graphics presentation, especially for players with mid-end PC configurations.
The DirectX 12 build may be released in different stages. An open beta test branch is expected to be available via Steam in May. Depending on user feedback, that build may be pushed to the production branch in June.
The new build is said to fully utilize the potential of the available hardware, allowing improved graphical fidelity. The studio has released four screenshots to allow fans to compare the two builds.
The studio notes it has decided to run a closed alpha test first by inviting a small number of players who own high-end hardware configurations. Once the alpha test is over a second beta test will be launched immediately, making the DirectX 12 build available for more players.
