The new night mode for the battle royale game Ring of Elysium will be released later today, development studio Tencent announced. In the mode players must maintain their body temperature to survive.

According to a recent announcement, the new night mode will be different than the traditional battle royale mode where the zone shrinks as the game advances. In From Dusk Till Dawn players must maintain their body temperature to survive until dawn.

The new scenario means winning the game is no longer limited to the last player or just a few. Every player who can survive until the end will win the round.

The studio notes it is aware that it is taking a risk by introducing a new mode to the battle royale genre, but also knows it might lead to new possibilities to carry the genre forward.

New players will be wondering how to play and win in this new mode. They must collect wood and fuel to light fires to maintain their body temperature every 5 minutes. After a number of cycles those who are still left will win the match.

In Ring of Elysium 60 players spawn on a snow mountain assaulted by a snowstorm. The way out is a rescue flight which can only save up to four people. Survivors must stay ahead of the approaching storm while eliminating competitors.

Players are equipped with a snowboard, climbing gear, or a hang glider, to traverse the snowy terrain and adapt to fights and other intense situations.
