EA Games has started blocking gamers from Myanmar from connect to its DRM service Origin this week. According to the company US laws and regulations prevent them from delivering the service in the country.
A gamer who lives in Myanmar posted about his findings on Reddit yesterday when he noticed that he was no longer able to log in to his account.
In a response EA Games has stated that with the Origin 10 update, US laws, which is where EA is based, forced them to block certain countries. The gamer is still not able to access the titles that he has bought through EA Games' Origin service.
The gamer has contacted EA Games support and they have told him that he "unfortunately lives in one of those countries". "I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do here to allow you access again." the support employee added.
The gamer warns players to not purchase games from Origin again because "if they do it to me, they can do it to you too." "Don't use or buy games from Origin or DRM services. They can take your content away without offering a refund." the gamer added.
