Indie development studio New World Interactive has released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming shooter game Insurgency: Sandstorm. The game releases later this year.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is said to be "designed to retain what made Insurgency great, and build upon it." The first game was based on the popular Source engine modification Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat that released in 2008.
The new game brings extended gameplay possibilities, improved immersion, new co-op and competitive objective-based game modes, all with the lethal tactical action that made Insurgency popular.
The studio was also working on a brand-new singleplayer story campaign but has since cancelled it to focus on the game's multiplayer experience.
For Insurgency: Sandstorm, the studio has moved away from Valve's Source engine and is now building the game on Epic's Unreal Engine 3 to power its improved visuals.
The game's multiplayer mode is said to feature both new maps as well as remastered editions of some of the maps included in the 2014 Insurgency game.
Insurgency: Sandstorm will release in September 2018 for PC and in 2019 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
