The PlayStation 4 version of Rocket League has finally received cross-platform matchmaking support. The console was the last platform to get support, following many years after other platforms.

According to a recent announcement, Sony allowed cross-platform matchmaking to be enabled for the PlayStation 4 version of the game this Monday. The decision comes after years of hindering support for the functionality. Sony did not comment on why it took this long.

The change means that players on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 can now randomly matchmake with or against each other in all online matches.

Now that the PlayStation 4 has finally caught up with other platforms, development studio Psyonix announced it will be rolling out the game's cross-platform party system with the first update this year. The system was unofficially delayed due to Sony's cross-platform multiplayer policy.

An official release date for the cross-platform party system was not announced yet.
