Life Is Strange: Before the Storm is split up in three episodes of which the third and final episode released last week. The final episode wraps up the game story arcs with an intense finale.

In "Hell is Empty" Chloe struggles to keep grasp of the events unraveling in front of her as we hurtle towards a dramatic conclusion and the consequences of your all your actions so far.

As her friendship with Rachel Amber reaches new heights of emotion, Chloe uncovers a dangerous revelation that will require her to find the courage and strength to make some of the toughest decisions of her life.

Gameplay & Story

The gameplay in the third episode obviously remained the same as previous episode: pick a dialogue, move around, pick up objects to use, everything felt similar.

However, the dialog choices feel like they are out of the player's control compared to the second episode that I reviewed in October.

In certain situations Chloe's answers just feel like they result in the same thing or they come out sounding the same. This ruins the illusion of impact even if the futures of the main characters are pre-determined.

Ultimately, the main disappointment was the lack of information about the death of a certain character in the original Life Is Strange game.

The end of the episode did give some fan service, but it didn't add much to the story. Perhaps these events will be the foundation for the next Life Is Strange game.

Despite the negatives, I personally still consider this to be the best episode of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm because it is filled with resolve and it felt satisfying to see how everything panned out in the end.

There are still plenty, if not an abundant amount, of heart-wrenching scenes and an equal amount of relief moments to balance the tone of the game.

Conclusion

Overall, this episode effectively tied the game well for newcomers of the franchise. However, long time fans might want more information about the events of the original title.

Development studio Deck Nine Games did a fantastic job with Life Is Strange: Before the Storm. The game quenches the thirst of long time fans and makes newcomers of the franchise hungry for more.

Those who are considering purchasing the game containing all three episodes will find more details on the previous episodes in my reviews of episode 1 and episode 2.
