Nintendo has announced that it will release Super Mario Run on December 15th 2016. The game will make its way to iOS devices first, with an Android release scheduled for 2017.
Super Mario Run has players manoeuvre the iconic plumber through several stages, including a grass stage and a lava stage.
In the game Mario will move on its own, allowing players to play the mobile game with one hand. Players are only able to control when Mario jumps to avoid obstacles or to reach platforms.
The iOS version of the game will be available for purchase for €9.99 or $9.99 USD and does not contain microtransactions. A trial version will also be available in which players can "enjoy a portion of the game" for free.
Super Mario Run is the first game that Nintendo will be releasing on smartphone and tablet devices.
