Nintendo has announced that the mobile mario game Super Mario Run will be available on Android this Thursday. The game was already available on iOS devices.
In the game Mario will move on its own, allowing players to play the mobile game with one hand. Players are only able to control when Mario jumps to avoid obstacles or to reach platforms.
The game already launched on iOS last December but received mixed reviews. Althrough never publicly commented on, Nintendo and Apple engaged in a strategic partnership that featured a limited exclusivity deal for Apple's mobile operating system.
As a result of the partnership, fans of the franchise had to wait an additional three months to be able to play the game on their Android devices.
Just like on iOS, a small portion of the game is available for free. Players that wish to access all of the game's content will have to purchase it via in-app purchases for €9.99 or $9.99 USD.
The game will also feature the heavily-criticized always-online DRM system that was also included in the iOS version.
Super Mario Run will launch on Android this Thursday, March 23rd 2017.
