Sony has released version 4.0 of the PlayStation 4 firmware. The new version introduces features such as HDR support that was announced last week during the presentation of the PlayStation 4 Pro.
The new HDR filter seems to be enabled by default and can be turned off if the player chooses to do so. Players who have tested the new feature claim that it makes the screen too dark, causing visibility issues, further indicating that the HDR support is just a post processing filter.
Also new in this version is the redesign of several menu screens, including the Quick Menu and Share menu. Pirvacy settings are now also available for each game, allowing players to hide activities and trophies on a per-game basis.
The firmware also incorporates support for the PlayStation 4 Pro, including 1080p Remote Play and 1080p streaming on YouTube, Twitch and Dailymotion.
