M2H Game Studio and Blackmill Games have announced a standalone expansion pack for the World War One shooter game Verdun. The new game is titled Verdun: Tannenberg and focuses on war on the Eastern Front.

Verdun: Tannenberg will be a standalone expansion pack for the original shooter game Verdun, meaning that those who have not purchased the original will be able to pick up the title without having to purchase the first game.

As the Russian Empire faces off against the Austro-Hungarians and their German allies, it will feature new squads, weapons and maps, along with a new 64 player game mode.

The game is said to focus on open field fights and players will have to adjust their tactics accordingly.

While the game can be purchased and and played without owning the original, Verdun: Tannenberg is closely linked to Verdun because players will be able to easily switch from one to the other as they play. This also means that the release of Tannenberg won’t signal the end of support for Verdun.

Verdun: Tannenberg is expected to launch this fall for PC.
