Rocket League has hit a new milestone as the studio confirms the game has reached 50 million players worldwide. The game was first released in 2015.
In the game players race around in gigantic stadiums where they must try to score as many points as possible by hitting a giant football to make sure it lands in the opponents goal.
The game first released for the PC and PlayStation 4 in July 2015 and made its way to several other consoles since, including Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The continued popularity is likely related to the game's cross platform multiplayer functionality, allowing PC players to test their skills with console players and vice versa. The PlayStation 4 is the only console not supporting the feature due to Sony's restrictions.
Development studio Psyonix is currently also working on Rocket ID. The system will power cross platform party matchmaking to further enhance the online experience.
