The 28th Call of Duty game will be a Modern Warfare reboot, publisher Activision has announced earlier this week. The game releases in October.
The reboot of the Modern Warfare series will feature a singleplayer story campaign that is similar to the original. It will see several returning characters, including Captain Price.
Players are said to engage in "breathtaking covert operations" alongside a diverse cast of international special forces throughout iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East.
The game will also contain "the ultimate online playground" with classic multiplayer and squad cooperative play in a collection of elite operations.
The publisher has released a trailer highlighting the singleplayer campaign of the game. This trailer is said to contain only in-game footage.
Those longing for the return of the classic Call of Duty multiplayer glory days will be disappointed to learn that the game will not be making its way to Steam. It will release on Activision Blizzard's Battle.net store client exclusively.
It will be the 28th entry in the Call of Duty franchise, including all its spin-off games, and the 16th entry in the main series.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on October 25, 2019, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
