Starbreeze Studios has announced that the shooter game Payday 2 will be receiving virtual reality support via free update later this year. The game first released in 2013 for the PC.
To announce virtual reality support for the game the development studio has released a short teaser trailer to showcase the features that are included in the free update.
When playing the game in virtual reality mode players will have access to several new features, including a new 3D head-up display that is attached to the left or right hand and the ability to interact with the world in 3D space.
Thus far only support for the HTC Vive was shown, but it is likely that the game will also support the Oculus Rift.
The update is scheduled to launch later this year and will be available for all Payday 2 owners. Players who play with the virtual reality mode enabled will be still be able to play against people who play on the default version of the game.
