Hello Games has announced it is working on a new major update for its space exploration game No Man's Sky. The update will introduce what the studio calls No Man's Sky Online.
The update is said to include three major components, of which the first is No Man's Sky Online; a new multiplayer experience. The new feature will be available free of charge and will not contain microtransactions or subscriptions.

Hello Games' CEO Sean Murray stated on social media that he doesn't consider No Man's Sky Online to be an MMO experience. However, he does mention that the update "will bring people together like never before, and has many recognizable online elements."
The
No Man's Sky Beyond update is scheduled to release this summer for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
