"Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March." said Rockstar Games on its official website.
The delay that was announced earlier today is the second delay for the PC version of the game. Sparking discussions over the quality of the code and the stability of the game. The PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV, the previous title in the series, suffered from many optimization problems and is often used as an example to show just how bad console ports can be.
"That's just sad. You have been milking console sales bone dry and now you're delaying it again. I already wasn't going to buy the game, but now I'm going to recommend my friends don't buy it either.Update 21:00 PM GMT: Rockstar Games has since then effectively censored these comments by removing them from their comment section.
Customers vote with their money. If you treat PC gamers like garbage and expect them to buy a console or wait OVER A YEAR AND A HALF for a PC version, they will either not buy/play or pirate it.
You're on my list of never-buy publishers and developers now, along with Ubisoft and EA." said a frustrated PC gamer in the comment section on Rockstar Games' offical website.
"Pre-order on torrent bought! Take my money R*! It's a big 0$! Another delay - will pirate every game of yours. Good afternoon!" said another PC gamer.
"Nice move, Rockstar! Announcing another delay two weeks before the announced release date ... ever heard of a thing called Customer Relationship Management?" said a third.
Earlier this week Rockstar Support, a division of Rockstar Games that handles support related matters, debunked the delay rumors, stating that the game was still scheduled to release January 27th. The game is now scheduled to be released March 24th 2015.
A month later than promised Rockstar Games has however gone ahead to release the system requirements for the PC version. With an unsual disclaimer stating that 'programming changes' could affect these requirements.
