Sony will reportedly stop the production of its PlayStation Vita handheld console in Japan soon. This likely means the company will stop producing the console altogether.
According to a recent website change, the company will stop producing the console sometime soon. A specific date was not given. The handheld console is already no longer in stock in many countries since 2016.
The PlayStation Vita first released in Japan in 2011 and made its way to the United States and Europe in 2012. Its proprietary removable storage cards were unpopular because of its higher price when compared to standard SD cards.
Starting March PlayStation Plus subscribers will also stop receiving new free Vita games.
