Valve has hired Half-Life 2 writer Erik Wolpaw again after the writer left the studio in 2017. The news was confirmed through a short e-mail exchange between a fan and Valve CEO Gabe Newell that ended up on social media.
The writer worked on several iconic Valve titles, including Half-Life 2 Episode 1, Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Portal, Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead, before leaving the studio in 2017.
Wolpaw wasn't the only writer that worked on Half-Life 2, he worked together with several others at the time, including Chet Faliszek and Marc Laidlaw, but some fans are now suggesting the return of the writer could mean the studio is working on new Half-Life content.
Last year former Half-Life scriptwriter Marc Laidlaw published the plot of Half-Life 2's third missing episode after leaving the studio in 2016. In his "Epistle 3" release he gave the impression he believed the last missing episode will never release.
