The development team behind the popular Half-Life remake Black Mesa has released a technical beta of several Xen levels. The missing chapters are the final piece of the story that is still missing in the remake.

The release includes the first three maps of the Xen chapter. The story of the first chapter is told across a total of six different maps. In total Xen will play out across 16 maps and this technical beta is said to only be "a taste of what is to come."

The technical beta was released because the development team wants to collect bugs and feedback on a wide range of different machines now that it has spent a significant amount of time improving and changing Valve's Source engine.

The team urges those who are looking for the complete Xen experience to wait because "it won't be long" until all chapters will be available.

The technical beta is available by selecting the public beta branch in the game's properties window accessible via the Steam library list.
