Bandai Namco officially announces fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ
Sunday, June 11, 2017 - 22:01 GMT

Bandai Namco has officially announced the new Dragon Ball fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ. The game will combine typical Dragon Ball combat mechanics with the franchise's iconic anime art style.

The game is currently in development at Ark System Works Co., a Japanese game development studio located in Yokohama, Japan. The studio is known for its involvement in the development of various 2D anime video games.

The game is said to feature a 3 versus 3 character battle mode that allows different team formation strategies to be discovered, and an "ultra-fast battle mode" that is said to incorporate the "thrill of battle".

The game uses a 2.5D animation art style, meaning that, while characters are rendered in a 3D environment, they feature the traditional and iconic Dragon Ball anime art style that matches that of the original anime.

The game was first rumored to be announced last week when Bandai Namco released several game information documents too early.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is expected to launch in early 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
