Sony has released a new developer diary video for its upcoming action game God of War. In the video developers discuss the progression systems available in the game.

Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.

God of War is said to have an emphasis on discovery and exploration as it features the largest landscape in the franchise's history.

The game features a shoulder free camera that brings the player closer to the action. Fights in God of War mirror the pantheon of Norse creatures Kratos will face: grand, gritty, and grueling.

In the game Kratos wields a new main weapon and has new abilities that "retain the spirit of the God of War franchise" while presenting a vision of violent conflict that is said to forge new ground in the genre.

God of War releases on April 20th, 2018, exclusively for PlayStation 4.
