Sony has announced it will be updating the hardware of PlayStation VR. The company is planning to release a newer version of its virtual reality headset that includes minor upgrades.
The new version, model number CUH-ZVR2, features a slightly updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset as well as a slimmer, streamlined connection cable.
The headset's processor unit has also been updated to support HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the processor unit in between the TV and the PS4 system.
The new headset will be available in Japan starting October 14, 2017, and will be released in other regions at a later date.
When the new version hits the store gamers will be able to recognize it by the slightly updated packaging and the model number. The pricing of the PlayStation VR bundles will remain the same.
