Publisher Chucklefish has released a new gameplay video for the upcoming indie adventure RPG game Eastward. The game is being developed by indie developer Pixpil.
Eastward is said to be a beautifully detailed and charismatic adventure game with RPG elements, inspired by 90s Japanese animation.
The game tells the story of John and Sam living in a collapsing society as human population shrinks to an all-time low. They embark on an emotional journey to discover the strange truth about Sam's origins and the mystery behind the sinister creatures who descend on the local towns, devouring everything in their path.
Players will be able to travel the world to explore towns, campsites and forests, fend off foes with a variety of weapons, and use character switching to solve environmental puzzles.
The game's environments are brought to life by a combination of innovative modern 3D lighting techniques and retro pixel artwork.
Eastward is expected to release in 2019 for PC and Mac.
