According to the announcement, the controls are intuitive just like its predecessor Wii Sports: motion controls to swing and kick - although this time with the Joy Con controller instead of the clunky Wii Remote from 2006.

Perhaps the most notable improvement for the existing sports games is an improved version of bowling: players can now play simultaneously without having to wait for turns.

An online Play Test event is also scheduled to take place on February 18 - 20, 2022, for which registrations open on February 15, 2022. The Play Test event is said to be used to evaluate various technical aspects and help improve the quality of the game by testing out online random matches for tennis, bowling, and chambara.
