Oculus has announced a new standalone virtual reality headset branded Oculus Go. The headset does not require to be connected to additional hardware, such as a PC or a smartphone, to power its content.
The new virtual reality headset seems to function similarly to the recently announced standalone headset from HTC, which is likely going to be titled HTC Vive Focus.
The new Oculus Go is said to primarily focus on lowering the barrier of virtual reality by making it easily accessible and more affordable. Oculus considers the new headset to be the go-to model that sits between the Oculus Rift and Gear VR headsets.
Ocolus Go is rumored to feature an LCD panel that supports up to 2560x1440 resolution, integrated audio and a reworked lens system. It is expected to ship early next year and carries a $199.99 price tag in North America.
