The upcoming indie skateboarding game Session has hit its funding goal in the first week of its Kickstarter campaign. The game aims to deliver the iconic skating experience.

The game is currently in development at Crea-ture Studios, an independent video game studio based in Montreal, Canada, and is said to feature similar gameplay mechanics to those found in EA Games' Skate franchise.

The project is especially interesting because EA Games hasn't put resources in creating new Skate franchise titles, despite a large group of fans asking for new entries.

In recent years skateboarding games have decreased in popularity because none of them were able to deliver an experience that could be compared to Skate or Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

In Session players are able to control both feet independently with two separate controller joysticks, meaning they can land tricks without pushing a set of predefined keys in sequence to activate it.

The game will also feature a video editor that allows players to record and share gameplay footage on social media, a balance system, and a day and night cycle.

The game will not feature a scoring system because its developers feel that it would detract from the skateboarding experience. This means that the typical arcade experience as featured in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise will not be included.

At the time of writing, the Session Kickstarter campaign has reached $81,741 US of its $62,400 US goal. PC and Xbox One releases have been confirmed with more platforms to be announced at a later date.
