EA Games and Respawn Entertainment will be revealing their Titanfall battle royale game Apex Legends later today. The free-to-play game is now available.

The game is set in the Titanfall universe and takes place after the events of Titanfall 2. It is free to play and contains microtransactions in the form of weapon and character skins.

In the game up to 60 players battle against each other in large open world maps. It is said to feature "deep tactical squad play" and "bold new innovations" that level up the battle royale experience.

The game is powered by the modified Source engine that was also used for Titanfall and Titanfall 2.

The game is currently in development at Respawn Entertainment. The studio was founded by Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zampella in 2010.

In the same year the duo became involved in a Call of Duty royalty dispute case with its parent company Activision, which caused the company to fire both West and Zampella. The duo formed the studio not long after. It was acquired by EA Games in 2017.

Apex Legends released for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
