Publisher Electronic Arts, also known as EA Games, reportedly wants to release a new Star Wars game atleast once a year. The release schedule lists atleast four years of releases resulting in yearly Star Wars games until 2020. Several studios that previously have had their titles published by EA are currently actively developing the games.
In 2017 EA is expected to release a sequel to Star Wars: Battlefront, the Star Wars-based shooter that released last fall. The game is expected to be based on the 2015 version and will feature larger locations from the Star Wars movies. In 2018 a Star Wars action game is expected to release that is being developed by Visceral Games and Motive Studios, developer of Battlefield: Hardline.
Respawn Etertainment, developer of Titanfall, has also recently announced that it is working on a Star Wars game though further details were not given. The studio does mention that it is working on a third-person action game, which is expected to be released in 2019.
EA Games actively seeking to release more Star Wars titles comes as no surprise. The release of Star Wars: Battlefront last year allowed the published to generate more revenue with over 14 million copies sold worldwide. The publisher is not expected to release another Star Wars game this year.
