Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has confirmed on Twitter that Microsoft's Project Scorpio will also be able to run Xbox 360 games that are supported by the current Xbox 360 backward compatibility program for Xbox One.

The backward compatibility program on the Xbox One console already supports a wide variety of titles, including Red Dead Redemption, and new games are added to the program's list every week.

Project Scorpio is a new version of the Xbox One console that is currently in development. The console is expected to be available during the holiday season of 2017.

Just like the PlayStation 4 Pro, the console is expected to feature updated hardware to allow 4K console gaming and virtual reality functionality.
