Ubisoft has announced a new Anno franchise strategy game titled Anno 1800. The game takes a departure from futuristic Anno settings.

The new game takes a departure from the less popular futuristic settings of the previous two titles Anno 2070 and Anno 2205 and turns back to the 19th century, a century full of innovations industrialization, inventions and discovery.

In the game players can build and manage cities, manage politics, explore new territories and wage war with enemy factions.

Aside from the expected singleplayer campaign, the game is also said to feature a sandbox game mode that allows players to create cities without currency limits and a multiplayer game mode that allows players to play with friends.

The new Anno 1800 engine is said to be able to showcase the sheer scale of the game world and create an unprecedented level of player immersion in the strategy building sector. The engine was created in-house at Ubisoft Blue Byte.

Anno 1800 is expected to launch in the winter of 2018 exclusively for PC.
