Gamers who have purchased the Nintendo Switch are reporting that the JoyCon controllers that come with the console are also usuable on Windows, Mac and Android.
The JoyCon controllers that come with the Nintendo Switch feature traditional Bluetooth capabilities, allowing gamers to pair them with a wide range of devices without additional software being required.
When pairing the JoyCon controllers players will find that they pair just as easily as other controllers as they all make use of the same Bluetooth protocol. The only issue is that the controllers are identified as separate controllers and do not work together like they do on the Nintendo Switch.
While the controllers work on all major platforms, players that want to pair their controllers with Apple devices will experience issues because the company has chosen to not fully support the default Bluetooth protocol used, as is the case with the majority of its products.
It is expected that homebrew software developers will create tools to allow both controllers to work in unity on WIndows and Android systems in the near future.
