Valve has put up a teaser for its own virtual reality headset on Steam. The headset will be named Valve Index and will release in June.
The Steam page for the new virtual reality headset was published last Friday and only shows a render of the device. This gives an indication of the included features.
The headset will feature integrated headphones, tether with DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0 connections and two face gaskets (narrow and wide). Those who purchase just the headset will need a separate base station and controllers as these will not be included in the standard box. A bundle may be available.
The Steam page displays a May 2019 label but this is just a teaser for an upcoming announcement. The headset itself will release on June 15, 2019.
The device will compete with the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets.

This comment has been removed. So how much
This comment has been removed. Anybody's guess at this point, but id be surprised if its much more expensive then Microsofts WMR platform offerings, so 400-600 bucks range. After all Valve doesnt need to make money from the hardware, their whole intend is making money from the software. Also with their Steam Link & Steam Controller they often do deals where you get it for a buck alongside a game, if they will do that with the Valve Index within a few months, (100 bucks if you buy hl:vr? xD) then yea, omg.
