THQ Nordic has announced it has delayed its upcoming shooter game Metro Exodus. The game was supposed to release this autumn.

In Metro Exodus players flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an "epic, continent-spanning" journey across post-apocalyptic Russia.

Players will explore the Russian wilderness in "vast, non-linear levels" and follow a storyline that is inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

A reason for the delay was not given but it is likely that the THQ's development studios are unable to deliver the game in time.

Metro Exodus will now release in 2019 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The exact date has yet to be announced.
