EA Games has revealed the next Battlefield game to be set in World War 1. The game titled as "Battlefield 1" features planes, horses, tanks and even a zeppelin though it is unclear if players of the game are actually able to fly or ride them. Along with the announcement the company has released a first trailer showcasing the games engine and features.
A World War 1 setting is surprising because for years both the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises have battled for popularity with both of them focussing on modern warfare combat. Now that the Battlefield franchise is going in another direction gamers that have grown tired of countless of modern combat shooters will have a game to look forward to.
Like all its predecessors, Battlefield 1 will primarily focus on the multiplayer experience, with 64-player battles that will take place in different locations around the world. The game will reportedly also feature a singleplayer campaign with different storylines told through the perspective of several characters, though further details have yet to be given.
As usual with games from EA the game comes with a whole host of pre-order packages to get players to purchase the game ahead of launch. The game is scheduled to release October 21st for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
