EA Games has confirmed to investors that the next Need for Speed game will launch sometime before March 2018. The game will be the sequel to the 2015 franchise reboot.

According to EA Games CEO Andrew Wilson the new game is "ambitious" as it will heavily focus on competitive online multiplayer, though did not provide specific details.
The new game is not the same game as the free to play title Need for Speed: Edge that is currently in development at EA Games' Korean game development studio EA Spearhead.

The new game is yet another chapter in the Need for Speed franchise. The title will be the 23rd entry and many more titles are likely to follow.
