Total War: Three Kingdoms DLC announced ahead of its delayed release
Friday, September 28, 2018 - 15:53 GMT

The upcoming strategy game Total War: Three Kingdoms will be getting downloadable content on the day of its release, development studio Creative Assembly has announced.

In Total War: Three Kingdoms the year is 190CE and China is in turmoil. The Han Dynasty crumbles before the child-emperor. He is but a figurehead, a mere puppet for the tyrant warlord Dong Zhuo.

According to a recent announcement, the downloadable content will be available to those who either pre-purchase or purchase the game in the first week. Why the game needs a day-one downloadable content pack was not commented on, but it is likely related to trying to generate additional revenue.

The "Yellow Turban Rebellion Warlord Pack" is marketed as the "Early Adopter Bonus", which gives access to a new sub-culture, three new playable Warlords, three new hero classes, new character skills, new weapons and new armor sets.

Why the content featured in the downloadable content pack couldn't be in the base game on release day was not commented on either. At the time of writing, the contents pack's announcement trailer has received twice as many dislikes as likes.

Total War: Three Kingdoms was delayed earlier this year and will now release on March 7, 2019, exclusively for PC.
