A developer of the widely popular multiplayer modification for Just Cause 2 was hired by Avalanche Studios, a source close to the original development team has confirmed. The modder better known as "Trix" was working on a multiplayer component for the third game in the franchise, Just Cause 3, while receiving word from the studio earlier this year. The multiplayer modification for Just Cause 3 saw light only a few weeks after the release of the game with several gameplay videos released to show the team's progress.
While the future of the Just Cause 3 multiplayer modification was uncertain insiders now claim that the team will cease its development. It is currently unclear whether the team will instead be working on bringing a native, fully integrated, multiplayer component to the game though it does seem rather likely.
We have reached out to Avalanche Studios for comments but have yet to hear back.
