Bethesda Softworks has removed the multiplayer beta of DOOM from the Steam store today, in turn removing thousands of negative reviews of the multiplayer component of the game. Whether the developer of the game has removed the store page to specifically get rid of the negative reviews is still unclear though some players label the move as "suspicious" on social media.

In the negative reviews fans of the franchise claim the multiplayer component of the game does no justice to the DOOM franchise, referencing the many Call of Duty-style gameplay elements as their biggest gripe. Playing DOOM multiplayer heavily revolves around leveling up your character, unlocking customization features and so called "hacks", a reference to the "perks" system in recent Call of Duty games, that give you enhanced capabilities such as wallhacks and power armor.

The game has been in development since May 2008 and is now available for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
