Microsoft has officially revealed the new Xbox One X console during its E3 2017 press conference earlier today. According to the company the console is the most powerful console ever made.

The new console renders games at 4K resolution, and supports games using 4K textures and other 4K assets. All games that are currently available for Xbox One will also be available on the Xbox One X because all games are backward compatible.

For older games, Xbox One X will make use of supersampling to make dated games stretch out better on 4K resolution TVs.

On the hardware side the console features an 8 core custom CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and a 6 Teraflop GPU clocked at 1.17 GHz. The console also features 4K UHD Blu-Ray playback.

A recent press release states that the company is "proud of the diverse lineup of games coming this year that will only be playable on Xbox One and will play better on Project Scorpio," and that it has "made it easy for recently released titles to upgrade to true 4K".

Xbox One X launches on November 7th 2017 worldwide. The console will retail for $499.99 in North America and €499.99 in Europe.
