The Playstation 4 version of No Man's Sky will not require Playstation Plus for online functionalities, Sony has confirmed this earlier today.
The game does not feature a dedicated multiplayer mode in the traditional sense. It does, however, have online functionalities that allow players to keep track of friends and uploading findings on The Atlas. Since the game is huge, players will be able to upload their findings related to new animal species, planets, and lifeforms on The Atlas to educate other players.
Playstation Plus has been a mandatory feature for players who wish to enjoy online functionalities on the Playstation 4.
Earlier today the founder of Hello Games Sean Murray commented on the recent claims from a Dutch company that stated it patented the game's world generation formula. According to Murray No Man's Sky does not use the "superformula" of the Dutch company and does therefore not infringe patents.
