Sony has announced that it has shipped 47,7 million PlayStation 4 consoles this year. The figure include the sales figures from the month September.

The new figure shows a 10,8% drop in sales revenue compared to the same period of time last year, which according to Sony is because of the currency exchange rate.

Between July and November Sony has shipped 3,9 million PlayStation 4 consoles, the same number of sales as the fiscal quarter before that period. Compared to the same period last year Sony has sold 100.000 units less. The drop may be related to the recent release of the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Sony's Game & Network Services unit has also noticed a drop in revenue as it decreased 11.3% year-on-year to 319.9 billion yen, or $3,167 million USD.

According to Sony, this significant decrease was, again, primarily due to the impact of foreign exchange rates and the impact of a price reduction for the PlayStation 4 console, partially offset by an increase in PlayStation 4 software sales including sales through the network.
